yes kind of tight but hey it's a 3 unit boat, you can always change it later when the boat ends up being very competitive.
OK, so it's fine for now, but when I start sinking people I have to cut it out, got it. Really though, it never crossed my mind that that rule applied for hard area. Maybe the rules should be changed to clarify that.
OK, then I won't worry about it right now. Thanks for bringing this up, Nick. Now I know for next time.
Update: Ordered a new motor from hobbyking that is more suitable for direct drive than the motor I have, plus enough connectors to finish the wiring harness. Finished putting foam in the ribs, and now need to waterproof the wood panels. I'm planning on not gluing the panels to the ship just in case I need to add ballast; I don't want to drill holes in my pretty wood. Still trying to figure out a decent way to mount the solenoids. I know where I want them, just keeping them there is a problem. I can't wait to get this done. Talking about it has gotten kind of old, I WANT TO BATTLE!!!
Finally decided on how I want to mount the solenoids. The bracket is built from a piece of aluminum salvaged out of a screen door. (hey, is was cheap ) Once I get the proper fittings for the solenoids and make sure everything clears, this will get more permanently mounted. One other thing, I have misplaced all the paperwork that came with the solenoids. Does anybody know which terminals are which (+ - )? Approximate location in the boat. Still waiting for the new motor from HK. The motor was on backorder when I ordered it. It's been two weeks since I ordered, but it still hasn't been restocked. Grr!
sadly things backorder like 2-6 months on HK sometimes. motors tend to be shorter but always take forever.
Looks like the two parallel terminals are the power supply, the other is earth ground (probably left disconnected for our purposes). Information is based on THIS.
Unless there is a diode built in parallel to the coil it doesn't matter which is positive and which is negative. No diode in the specs for spartan so either way is fine.
Just tested my modified Tuggy pump. Modified the mounting plate to fit a 2100 kV out runner I had. Results are great! Couldn't even go up to full throttle because I would have had water all over the bathroom.
Well, that's a possibility, but you would probably spend more time cleaning up the water than you would cleaning the bathroom.
Te He, I vividly remember doing what I thought was a spectacular job cleaning the kitchen ceiling in this fashion...... the wife however found it to be anything but spectacular.
I tested a pump outside on the porch one time. Right as I was firing it up and congratulating myself on being smart enough to test this outside and not under a canopy or in my garage I remembered that I have a roof over my porch. And then I got very wet.
Motor came back in stock today, so my order will ship soon. Once that gets here I can finish up the wiring harness. Switch for the solenoids shipped the other day from Amazon so I can soon get the solenoids wired and firing. Glued in one drag prop this evening also. Once I get the proper fittings, the Co2 hoses will get cut to length and installed. Soon she'll be a firing model! I'm planning on Nate's Summer Dustoff to be Suffren's battle debut, so I'm working almost every evening to get her ready.
