Question. Does changing filament types require retuning the extruder? Say if I were to get it set up perfect for pla then change to abs? If so I will wait to tune it till I get the enclosure done.

From what I read for m several sources that recalibration isn't necessary the changes if needed can be made in the slicer so I went ahead and ran an extrusion of 100mm and got 101mm so ran the equation and came up with 99. Made the changes in firmware. Then reupdated my TFT firmware to attempt to alleviate another issue that according to BTT is coming from the TFT firmware. Enabled linear advance. Running a test print now. Also turned my max acceleration down a bunch. Things are already looking like a massive improvement. Pics when it finishes.

Recompiling Marlin again. Apperantly with the TFT update the baudrate has to be increased or it freezes mid print and has to be reset and the print resumed. Had it do it 3 times during this test print lol.

So far so good with the higher baud rate settings. Giving it a torture test. Cage mast in PLA. Hehe. If it prints I will finally be impressed.
Here's the improvements tuning and firmware have made this eve. 15824448571178047222510910748589.jpg

These are the pass through I printed this morning.
Notice the surface artifacts in a random type pattern on the curve.

Surface on this second part is much improved. Hopefully the baud rate change will completely eliminate this issue. However it looks so much better already.

The small layer shift in the second part is due to one of the freeze ups and subsequent restarts.

Ok cage mast was too stringy. Need to adjust retraction.
However it froze up. Going to try reverting my firmware back to the earlier one and see if it goes away. Never had this issue before.

New power switches all wired up. Color code is out the window here lol. 15825045714501981947594262687562.jpg
Once I get the power supplies mounted, I can move on the installation of the box to the table top and cutting the floor out so the printer can sit flat on the table for mounting. I screw it down with mounts built into the frame braces. Will have to figure out something else for the new frame lol.

Dang. Just realized I never printed the maincard mount. Going to mount it outside the enclosure as I don't want it getting too hot.

Power supplies mounted. Had to run the wires from the fan direct on the 24v supply. The fan control circuit went poof the first day. Been meaning to do this but it wasn't really an issue till now. Going to abs will require it to actually work a bit lol.

I really have not given it much thought lol. I spent about $100 with gulfcoast just for bed upgrades. Another $100 in electronics. 2 rolls of filament printing upgrades. And the cost for the enclosure is probably close to $50 including the table.

Then another $75 or so into the new frame I am building the enclosure to print the abs parts for. Hahaha.

I'd like one too! I had access to a nice laser cutter for a few weeks and it was just a dream to work with, made cutting things out so easy. Fast too! Money and space, money and space.

Need to make up a filter for inside the enclosure. Need to figure out what I want for a door catch. Here's what I got done last night. 15825643412088921864354618071821.jpg

Would have gotten more done but spent most of the day cleaning up and rearranging my room/workshop. Lol.

Also got a fan and some voc trapping filter media to make a recirculating filter to go inside.

a couple weeks ago, I was just getting ready to build my enclosure. was at a Salvation army store and saw this: 0128202140~4.jpg a A/V stand from a school or something...$25..and the joy of packing it in my work car...a Prius:confused:
