Well I got bored last night so I decided to start marking the Espana for cutting. I am figuring out how many ribs. If I go with 3/8 ribs I get 7 but if I go with 1/4 I would get 10. Question on ribs though. According to my calculations it works out to 10.95 ribs. Would I get 10 or 11? I am hoping to have a dreadnought type flotilla running this summer. VU, Southy and Espana terrorizing the waters.

You should be ok with 11 ribs. Five hundreths of a inch short is so tiny as to be insignificant. It it really bothers you, make one rib 1/64th of an inch smaller than 1/4" and you will be covered. :)

I think I will take the 11th rib. It would be nice to shore up some vulnerable area with an extra rib.

That's a neat (relatively) little ship -- what rules is it for, and where did you get the plans?

I am checking the inventory to see if I can arm it this year. I am hoping it can be sail tested by mid summer. I have as a goal to have southy ready for sail testing by mid april. The tennessee by june 1 and Espana for July 15th. I will be using an Esc in the espana. I have a 40 amp mtroniks speed controller. It should be able to handle 2 380 motors.

I decided today was a cutting day. So I finished cutting my Graf Spee hull. And then I cut the Espana. I wont cut that until I am ready to install shafts. When I cut for the shafts I will resin in the shafts so I need a relatively warm day to do it.

She's a good fighting ship in IRCWCC. I have one collecting dust on the shelf now. She was built by Ali Zinant back in 1999 or so.

I like the class 4 ship. It would make a nice counterpart to my Prinz Eugen (a VU class ship)

The construction on the Espana will begin this weekend. It cam e down to the Graf Spee or Espana and I figure the Espana would be better as I am waiting to Captn Jack to finish his Graf Spee

So far the hull windows have been cut. I just have to cut out for the shafts and rudder.

Find out from Bob Pottle what he used on his. That model had plenty of thrust from his props and it was quite peppy and maneuverable.

Hmmm I wonder if I can put two biz sized props on her :eek:o_O:woot::whistling:. I am thinking the 1.25 inch props are the way to go.

You can just attach a BIS size prop to the mast and use that as a wind mill to power your on board radio systems.
