Started the work on the Espana. put in the rudder shaft and the prop shafts. I think I will go with 1.5 in prop. It will be direct drive on 2 380 motors using dog bone and collars. The resin is now drying for the Espana.
The deck has been resined in. I am using 1/4 inch sintra as the main deck. It is nice and light but it can be cut with a knife to make the hatches. It wont warp.. There was no local supplier of aircraft ply and I wanted the deck in before it got too cold to resin.
The resin has now cured and the tape holding the deck in place removed. it came out nice and smoth. Very few gaps. I think there is just one and I will use some 5 minute epoxy to fill it.
So now marking for where the deck hatched need to be cut. I am just decding whether to go with one bigger hatch or 2 smaller ones.
For a ship of that size one large hatch is much more convient and easier to use access. Depends on how large your hands are.
The motors have finally been mounted. All I can say is Jebus. The universals were the biggest pain. I am oping to start wiring to an esc this week. I have an mtronics 40 amp esc that will be running it.
That's what I think. I am only going to use 1 SLA battery,. I am just wondering whether or not to use a seperate battery for the pump.
why are you letting her catch dust? some new guys in IND are looking for good/rebuildable or RTF ships.
I decided to get back to building the Espana. I think I will remove the sintra deck and go with wood. Is there any easy way to remove a resined in deck?
Run a combat video in the background and use your assortment of dremel attachements to remove the unwanted resin.
After I sold the Espana and Courageous molds to Rich Wands he sold them to Strike Models. I don't know what will become of the molds with Strike out of business.
