It was well detailed. Here is a link to the website that helped in the superstructure construction. http://www.viribusunitis.ca/

Today I had some time so I went down to Maritime Hobbies and picked up a traxis u joint. I figure this was a cheaper method than getting the gear to extract one set screw. So I have managed to get the new motors on and they are running well.Overall I am pleased but I notice one of the shafts sometimes takes it a brief second before it starts spinning. I can then go back and forth with no problems. I just happens once in a while. i made sure the shafts are well greased. It seems to me when I turn the shaft they feels like a bind.

The grease will loosen up and the other shaft should start spinning. Check the wiring to make sure that the motor is starting slow the wiring is not loose. exspecially the tabs.
You did wire in parelle and not series right?

I wired in paralell. It is not everytime the motor gets briefly stopped. It just happens once in a while. And it is only from the neutral positionAlthough i if I tighten the motor clamp up the shaft wont turn. NExt step will be to get the Pump right behind the motor. That will be fun fun.

I'd wager that you've got a bad motor, probably not worth trying to fix or troubleshoot too much unless you know for sure that it isn't the motor or you're using some really expensive motor. What motors did you end up using anyway?

The two motors are brand new. I picked up 2 365's from battlers. I think it is the shaft as when I spin it it seems like there is a slight bind.

I have taken the u joint off the shaft and tested the start and stop. There are no problems. I have regreased the shafts before I installed the motors.

Might be a little binding at the Universal end or a slight misalignment.
    What voltage are these motors?
    Is the battery fully charged?

Ahh, my bad, I was thinking the motor shaft not prop shaft was binding. If it is the prop shaft and the motors work fine out of the boat than Stokamoto's suggestions of a misalignment on the universal sounds like the most likely.

I think I have it resolved. I swapped motor positions and I noticed that one of the motor mounts is vibrating. you see the motor slightly move. I used some 5 minute epoxy to secure the clamp in place. And now I am not getting the issue of the one shaft not starting.

I have now reinstalled the pump. The pump is running. I just had to resolder a connection as it wa a little loose. So here are some pics of the motor area THe pump is right in behind the motors in the center of the water channelling.

Here is the pump behind the motors.

I made sure the motors were wired the same way as the old ones. But everything is functional. pump and motors run with no issues. I am just charging the radio and battery. I am then going to test the servos to make sure they are working. If that passes this week then it is time to resheet. The balsa has already been prepped with a coating of dope and thinner. Next will be to attach the silk span.

In the PE there is a pair of u joints. One is a graupner and the other is a graupner/traxxas mix. Dog bone and collars have more forgiveness when lining up the motors. U joints have to be spot on or else you can run into some binding problems when the shafts turn. The way the pe was built dog bone and collars were not ideal as space is at a premium. If you look at the second pic you will see a pump very close to the motors.

I got an early start on sheeting today. So one side has been sheeted. I am pleased with how it turned out. Tommorow I am hoping to get the other side done.

The other side has been sheeted. Once I fill the gaps with bondo I will attach the silkspan to the outside of the hull.
