Sounds like a good idea. You will find it very convienent to have control of the pump.

LAst night I got the pump installed. I am in the process of wiring in an on/off switch so that depending on the conditions the pump does not have to running all the time. Southy will eventually be run on a 2 channel radio as it will only be a runner. I am thinking of installing the switch underneath one of the turrets. I think tonight will be to install the rudder servo and and make sure the rudder turns.

Rudder servo has been siliconed into place. I am waiting for it to be cured before attaching the rudder arm to it. Started wiring the pump switch. I am using a disconnect similar to ones in the PE. I should be able to get the wiring completed this evening. Or at least that is what I am hoping for.

Success this evening. Pump switch wired and successfully tested. Rudder arm installed on servo and tested rudder movement. A nice 45 degrees on either side with no binding. Wired in the throttle so that everything is connected. Pump switch is installed.. I will have to make the turret removable so that there is access to the switch.

Well disaster struck. I decided to do a full systems check with radio. And then the motors blew. puff of smoke and then nothing. One of them wont turn and the other is starting to smoke a little when run. I checked to see if the prop was binding. it moved very easily. theother one sounds horrible and seeing some smoke makes me think these motors are ready for the scrap heap. Let's see if I can find some more 380 motors.

Were they old motors or new motors?

They were old motors. They have been in the ship since I bought it. I just figure if they were to blow then it would have been easier before I stared restoring the ship.

Checking around the inventory I found a pair of motors Jay gave me last year. I will use those in Southy. They are princess auto motors. I have one set of 380 motors but I am going to use those in Espana.

Both motors were wired up this evening. Tommorow night I will install and test to see if they run properly. I suspect they may be 12v motors but I am not sure.

They will run much slower than if they were 6 v motors.
We tested a bunch of motors I have and that is what we found, there was a noticeable difference.

I am not so worried about speed as the Southy does not have to run speed tests.I just want to make sure it doesnt crawl either. I just want it to run at a reasonable speed and keep a nice balance to it.

The new motors were installed this evening. Tested with connecting up a battery. Motors ran well. I need to find a 6v 4amh battery and use that for power. The pump was placed back into position. Next is get a battery and then mount the throttle switch

The battery is now on order. A 6v 4ah battery is sufficient for using it as a runner. I should have that either tommorow or monday. Once I get the battery I will make a tray to hold it and then place the throttleswitch. Then it will be painting time and she should be done..

I had to go and repair the old rudder as the rudder shaft was wider than a standard battlers rudder. I just used some marine goop to secure the rudder to the rod. It has then installed into the rudder shaft and hooked up to the servo.

Battery arrived. It is a nice and small 6v 4 ah battery. I might actually have to add weight to the boat. A float test in the tub maybe in order for this evening
