Ok, I don't know if this ever came up, but what are the twins BB or BC's. There Main belt armor was 350 mm or 13.78 inch were as Bismarck's belt armor was Belt: 320 mm or 12.6 in. So the question is what were the twins.

WW2 Scharney & Gneisenau. And they were battleships. Almost the opposite of battlecruisers. A battlecruiser had the size and armament of a battleship with less armor for speed. Those two had battleship armor and size and gave up gunpower for speed (11" guns where all others being built had 14"+).

They were classified as battleships by the German navy, only the UK considered them as battlecruisers, and even then, changed their classification after the war.

From what I understand, they were equiped with 11" guns not to increase spead, but because they were already readily available, waiting for 15" guns to be available would have meant a delay of several years.

I thought PE survived the first nuke, and it took a second to sink her. Or was it that it took a few days after the first nuke to sink? Either way, impressive. BUT STILL DOOMED. :)

:p I still stand by this: When Prinz Eugen Surrendered to the British in May 1945 in Copenhagen which is in Denmank. She was then taken back to Wilhelmshaven on May 28th, to be turned over the US as a War prize. She was Escorted by light Cruiser Dido and Heavy cruiser Devonshire and Two Distroyers HMCS Iroquois and HMS Savage).

My question is were was Devonshire? Was she behind Prinz Eugen or where was she at, Exactly, i haven't found anthing to tell me were she was at? What were Prinz Eugen have a Chance to Escape in to open water or were there British Sailors on board her to make sure she didn't make a run for it? But her main 8inch ammo was offloaded under British orders in Copenhagen Denmark, so she didn't have any of her big shells. So My question here is could she have gotten away or would she have been sank right off the bat? and Explain why!

There's an add on to this also: What If" light cruiser Nürnberg draw off Dido and one of the Destroyer Savage. Could PE draw off Devonshire and the other Destroyer Iroquois. what were the odds on them actually getting away, I know PE didn't have any shells, but she did have her torpedoes i believe? Kind of like what i told my two other friends don't sink PE, just corner her and force her to back down and give herself up, then if she doesn't pop off a few warning rounds at her again see if she's back down, then if she doesn't, then sink her! But don't sink her right off the bat. This is a what if question, and it taken a while to get it tho my head, I know one wrong move on Eugen part and she toast, and it took me a really long time to accept it.. And I can't be selfish about her. Yes, I'm talking about Prinz..

PE has NO chance to escape. D.E.A.D. They were watching her like a hawk, and even if she horribly dishonored herself and her crew by firing on the British ships, the ENTIRE ALLIED WAR MACHINE would kill her. near Denmark, there is no way to 'freedom' except by going around Britain, which by the way had more airplanes of all types than anywhere in the world (since they weren't bombing Germany any more). Those airplanes would be sortied to search for the PE. All of those planes are at least 10 times faster than PE and easily have enough fuel to stay aloft for 12 hours at a time hunting for her. Oh, there is no shortage of radar-equipped search aircraft by that point in the war, so the search will probably be about 5-10 minutes SINCE THE ALLIES KNEW THE EXACT STARTING POSITION BEFORE THE SHOOTING STARTED. Once found it'd take probably 30 minutes to an hour to get the first aircraft overhead to maintain contact with PE while the several thousand heavy bombers in England get their crews back and load bombs, torpedoes, machines, knives, sharp sticks, and maybe a few heavy rocks. There will literally be more ordnance in the air than Prinz Eugen displaces. That's right. If you put PE on a giant scale, and weighed all the bombs that'd be dropped on her, PE would weigh less. Adding to the end of the ship is the fact that she had surrendered, and then fired on the British ships, violating the truce. Even if PE saw all the planes and said 'Holy SH**! We're sorry, we were wrong!' the Allies would not accept the surrender and would not take any prisoners. PE would die under a cloud of high explosives and dishonor. Not a single chance for PE or any other German ships to live at all. Even if you gave PE magical cloaking bullsh** and it magically disappeared from the Kattegat and reappeared safely 1000 miles at sea in the middle of the Atlantic, it'd still be dead or captured because no one would give them fuel, food, or water. Even magical bullsh** ships need fuel and spare parts and food for the crew.

There is no 'avoiding any wrong moves'... there is not RIGHT move she could make that would change the fact that the war was over and she was an Allied war prize.

PLEASE. STOP. THIS. You do it every 4-6 months and it will not change the result.

best case, if some loony in charge thought this was a good idea... the crew would probably just refuse the orders.

worst case and they actually try it... Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies. TPK

she could have escaped by scuttling.

but the british probably warned the germans they'd consider it a violation of their surrender and would kill survivors.
