Rob's Tirpitz has moved to Texas! I just couldnt pass this up and I wanted to see the clippard soleniod setup in action and now I will.

I got a complete ship with parts and other items and it was a great deal.

He also did a great job on packing so it would cut down on shipping costs.

I will get more details later and a tour of the ship.

I got her unboxed this afternoon but had to head out all night. I will work on her over the weekend. Rob checked the guns so she should be ready to go.

I am going to put in power poles, deans ultra plugs, a power switch and test fire buttons then do a little housekeeping but dont plan any major changes right now.

    Here is the unpacking:

I need to put the superstructure back together and then I will get some more pictures.

She has twin propultion motors? Tirpitz is a 3 prop ship, are you using the two wing props? Or double loading the center?

He is using the new BC gearbox for two motors on the center shaft. I am not sure about changing it in the future, I dont have any experience with this. I will just try it out and see how others are doing it and then compare performance. I hear the ship turns well as it sits so I will check that. I do need to add the new rudders with the extra surface area though.

Hmmm.. I would be very interested in your results. I'm running a single motor / single shaft in my Tirpitz. Can't see why a second motor would help all that much except in weeds mulching. But I really have no idea. Very interesting.

Keeps the motor(s) cool -less work for them to do. Rob had nothing but great things to say about the new gearbox.

From my experience with R/C cars I know that two motors turning one shaft will result in reducing the load on each motor. I would like to see data if the two motors combined use less amps under load with the gearbox compared to one motor on the shaft. I feel that it may be lower.

If I can get it all done I will take it to the new park this Saturday or Monday for a run and get video. I am used to the nice tight turn radius of the Baden so this will a learning experience for sure.

That makes sense... The Iowa's motors were water cooled; so it was never and issue for me before. Wonder if it will be?

Well I am ready to resheet the Tirpitz. I am not sure how to handle some things like the stringer but it looks fairly straight forward.

This is the ship before I start.

Here is one option. To use one sheet to cover it all. It leaves a bit of a gap but I just dont know what its supposed to look like.

Here is the other option to use two sheets. I think this is the way it was done before.

    Any suggestions?

I wouldnt change a thing from how he has it setup honestly.. The only time we managed to put it down in November of last year was when it went out of control for one reason or another and started making circles in the middle of the pond allowing us to hug up to it.. He put down quite a few himself though from what i remember.

Its deffenately a VERY good setup you have there and i can vouche for the cannon system. Mine is built the same way and it works flawless.

I am not planning to at this time. I am changing some wires to color codes that I use and changing the connectors but other than that I am not changing it. I am looking forward to comparing the kip vs clippard setup on my two ships very soon.

Glad to see that the Rob's Tirpitz found a good home in Texas. I though it was going somewhere in Michigan. Good luck and have fun with the ship.

Well I went to work on the ship and took things out to have a good look inside.

I am in the process of changing out the connectors to make everything interchangeable and usable between ships.

I was suprised to see the BC gearbox on the outside rudders. I suppose I could power them if I wanted to.

No rudder box in the back so I will have to learn to waterproof servos.

I like the amount of room I have compared to the baden.

So I will add powerpoles for the batteries, change the solenoid to 16 guage color coded wires with deans 2 pin connectors, add noodle wire and deans ultra plugs to all motors and that should take care of the wiring.

    I get another update soon.

Well I am finally getting this ship going after a while. I am stalled on the baden and a battle in 2 days. So 25% done sheeting so far.
