Hi: Ship has had 3 weeks of building off and on . So far things have been going smooth ( for a change ). Boat was painted last night and the internals will be installed tonight. Should be a bit more reliable than the other ships that I have.
Picked up the 2.4 radio yesterday with all new servos and the one for the rudder is the 1/4 scale water tight, that has a good throw and lots of power behind it. The moter is one of the biz type that Curt used for years in the old biz. The guns will be installed on Sat. morning if all goes well, two sets of dual side mounts and duals on the stern, it will do trials early Sat. rain or shine. This will be the main ship to use for irc battling in 2010. It WILL be the last ship that i buy for the hobby as its big enough to go "toe to toe" with all other ships and i can still move it around. The other ships i have will be moved back in the shop or sold to make room to detail this one over the winter. It only took ten+ years to get down to one ship that will work.
I will post some pics of this one as soon as i can figure out how.

well after two times out and no sinks, the guns need to be done. I have made two of the 4 i need tonight and they fire hard and are ready to be installed.
they will be put in as side mounts and the others will be rebuilt and installed this weekend. Next time out she will have all guns working and all systems checked.

That's great to hear Captain. Seems the motor is working out well for the model. How do you have the speed tuned down?

the motor is on an ESC and a dx5 radio, not hard to slow it down.
Made 4 straight mag guns today so i now have enough for the tirpitz and back up boat

OK progress has been slower than normal. I have made and tested a new set of guns for the ship and they work great, now they can be installed. Detailing has started and is moving along nicely for now, all detailing will be done over the winter and made ready for the show in the spring. have found a way to use the 4oz capsules from walymart so i can now use the roberts as an armed ship for a back up so the mogami may have to go away soon.

Well, on Sun. I took the tirpitz out for a little run in Uniacke, Four hours, two sets of batteries and NO glitchs latter it came to shore and was in the work shop for guns. She is battle ready and working great.
I will be buying a new heavier set of batteries ( 6v -12amp instead of the 6v-7amp ) That will be it for the boat. Shes ready for anything.

    Nice pics.
Very interesting gun arrangement on the Nagato.
How do you plan to set up your cannons on the Tirpitz?

Starting to come along John but I don't think they are the proper main turrets for Tirpitz. They look like graf spee turrets.

these are the turrets from Ralph Coles. The boat will be armed with dual side mounts and a stern gun(75 round) and a full pump, this will give me the full 6.5 units i need.

Uncle Adolf has issued directives that the Bismarck class battleships be fitted with triple 11.1" guns so as to not worry the British. Her main mission will be commerce raiding.
    Haha.
