Photo dump of the installation of a BC Bismarck deck into a Modelshipsahoy Tirpitz at the customers request. Thought someone here might benefit from seeing the process. Will edit more step by step narrative later. Having the boat in the molds is a plus for the accuracy when all is done. I had to bevel the bottom edges of the deck to get it to sit flush I taped the seam all the way around to keep the resin from dripping out, then laminated all the way around the under side of the deck lip to secure it into the boat. Using heavy duty paint sticks to press the deck evenly into the molds, I weighted them with various objects with just enough weight at each point to make the deck lines flow cleanly After the laminates set up, I removed all the tape, paint sticks and my huge steel chrome plated nuts. The sides of the gap were taped all around leaving the trench. A batch of resin was pigmented and thickened with Cabosil, then smeared into the trench making sure to push it well down in, then squeegeeing it out on the top to leave a thin bead higher than the trench all around. Pulling the tape before the fill starts to set up is key here. It is very tricky since it’s covered in sticky gooey resin, but it leaves a very clean fill bead and requires very little sanding after curing The boat came out very nice with smooth lines and the flat bottom the customer was looking for. Nicely level enough for paint sticks to stand on edge wherever you placed them and form a plane in array.
I'll post a review of your hull soon. Sorry for it taking so long. Away on work trip. Need to get some good photos to post
