Yep, that's what I had decided to go with: 2 bow cannons angled 15 degrees off either bow (not dual bows). At 35 knots, speed will be her defense. The Allies don't have much that can keep up with her so I should be pretty safe. Something interesting about her is when looking at her lines, she's a fat lady all the way from about the bridge all the way back. She's not got a pointy stern like most of the other IJN cruisers, so she'll have more hull volume.
Bob did you have molds for the E3 type 8 inch guns for your Suzuya? I need the same guns for my Tone. I also need the 5"40 AA guns.
No, I havent started them yet. I have the rib sections you printed off for me though. I need to get the ribs marked out so I can cut them.
I finally got your phone message. The next time I come up to build I'll definitely bring the rib sections and wood up.
OK sounds good. Going to have to shift gears this week to get the Salem prepped for Ravenna. I didn't realize that was next weekend! I could battle her right now, but have a few minor upkeep type things I want to do before the battle.
I'll bring the rib sections and some wood up this weekend. I'm looking forward to getting a start on this ship.
Finally got a full set of plans, rather then just the ribs. I'm really looking forward to building this ship. I expect with her exceptional speed (35 knots) she'll be a really fun sniper ship in Treaty. I would eventually also like to add a set of big gun torpedo cannons to her so I have the option to hit up a big gun event should I choose to. Having one ship that I could use for all formats I think would be great. A Mogami would probably be a better choice (two rudders and aft main turrets for the win), but they are just way too popular, so Tone is a respectable second choice. Now the real question is....Tone or Chikuma?
