IT IS ALIVE!!! I completed the negative wiring on Tirpitz tonight. Drive motor is turning, pump comes on when the switch is activated. If I could only remember to hit that pump switch in battle.
    Thanks,

No Boomer, Most of the pictures are on the Treaty Yahoo site. I have not been able to find the time to get any posted on RCN. I'll try to get some loaded.
    Thanks,

If I can find the correct 12" extension for the rudder servo Tirpitz will be ready to sea trial tomorrow.
I am having trouble finding an extension the goes from a Futaba radio to a # 94102 Airtronics servo.
    Thanks

I will take pictures after the wife and kids return from Germany and France. They have the camera. All 3 of them.

Thanks Mikey for the email and the voicemail on my phone. Funny that I am still running my old Airtronics servo for my rudder. I have not had an Airtronics radio since they made their change on the old Vanguard radios. When they went cheap. I won't replace the servo with a Futaba until this one goes.
All that said. I got everything I need. Rudder extension cord and all.
Tirpitz goes to sea for the first time tomorrow morning.

    Haha Mikey,
    I read People magazine. :)
Tirpitz hit the water at 0835 and had "its" sea trial. The boat turns very well and handled great. I did have to install a receiver battery pack as I was having an intermittent problem with the drive motor cutting out for a split second. After the radio was hooked up to a separate battery source everything went very well.
Just a minute after I pulled up to the pond I remembered why I had gotten a Von der Tann kit. It was just as I walked with Tirpitz on my shoulder. I have got to get into a smaller boat.
I took some pictures with my cell phone camera and will try to post.
    Thanks,

How do I think the ship performed?
Very stable platform. Turns very good at Treaty speeds. The ship turns in it's boat length. Starts well, stops in about 2 1/2 boat lengths. Should be a hoot to run and fight in battle.

More updates on Tirpitz. The starboard side ribs, armor belt and 1" below are all layed out.
The port side rib centers are marked along with the armor belt and the 1" below the waterline. This measurement was triple checked.
I hope to complete the full sized rib layout this week and plan to start drilling and cutting windows during the Saturday build session.

    Thanks,

    Stoko,
I am driving off the center shaft with a Johnson 970 motor. This drives a 2 14" 2 blade prop. Home made. These push a great amount of water and I have used this type of prop for years. I just think they do a better job than anything out there in both forward or reverse. The guns are set up as follows:
Anton starboard sidemount, Bruno port sidemount, Ceaser starboard sidemount, Dora twin stern guns.
Look at the ship starting in the stern I have my water tight box and rudder servo, moving forward ther is the drive motor with the guns place to the side and in front of the motor. Also in front of the motor is an expansion tank with 3 solenoids mounted on it. Just forward of that is the pump. Still moving forward are three 6 volt 12 amp hour batteries. The two batteries that are after most are placed port and starboard. The third battery sets in front of them and straddles the water channel. Just forward of the batteries is the water proof box for the radio. Forward of the boc are two more solenoids and a 9 oz Co2 bottle.
I will try to get some pictures posted. The wife and kids just returned from the Fatherland and have a ton of pictures on the 3, yes 3 cameras. Once they get them downloaded I will get the pics. I just would rather not be the one that they look at asking where all the pictures from Germany are and that they don't remember seeing this boat model. :)
Forgive me if the spelling is bad but I just got done practice with the bicycle team I am on and we wer brutalized with a 45 mile ride with climb after climb. If anyone wants any pasta there is some just before the crest of the Old Chickies Hill Road outside of Columbia, Pa. If you get there soon it should still be fresh.
I need to go shower, I just got a wiff of myself....

Thats a perfect description. Very similiar to what I had setup for Bismarck. Where did you get the 6v 970 motors? I can't get them here locally.
