Build-session today at my boat shop. Phil was there working on his new pocket-battleship for Treaty. Mark was there working on two of his new kits. One for Treaty, and one for Battlestations. Vance has been helping me work on his new Surcouf submarine for Treaty. So he had friends over today and didn't build with us, I was able to get a lot of work done on the Sub. The swelling in my hand from the allergic reaction to the green slime on the Versailles pond, has finally gone down, and I am pretty much back to normal now. That stuff was just nasty! Mikey
For those of you who are curious about how many French captains are needed to take on one American cruiser, the answer is three. Perhaps their unusual choice of weapons, hammer and pliers, contributes to the high ratio. It was nice to host a build session and have everyone else work on my ship.
The ship is the prototype of my updated Baltimore kit. I eliminated a few of the more difficult construction techniques, corrected some of the ribs that were not quite fair, and added a deck.
Phil working on his Rodney, Matt's new Iowa, and Phil working on his Bearn aircraft-carrier. I can't find the thread about photos of our shipyards. Wasn't there one somewhere? Mikey
I really miss the shipyard builds with my friends. Lots of Coffee and laughs and the catered food (aka TIMBITS) Those were great days.
A couple of projects that we picked up from Steve V. Both started out as big-gun projects. But we will be finishing them for Treaty. The larger of the two is the British G-3 class battlecruiser. The little one is the Russian cruiser Kirov. Mikey
Some of Mark's kits that we started in the last couple of weeks. Baltimore, Bogue, Golo, and the Henry IV.
Yes, indeed! Is the middle one an Iron Duke class? I believe the top one is a Deutschland-class. Beaver
