I guess it is time for a new trivia thread. I will start with this can of corn . . . What countries developed Naval Aviation for the Imperial Navy prior to the beginning of World War II?

I know the United states sent some P-35 hawks over to Japan which was studied and eventually gave rise to the A-6m

Frenchies? Don't know how much development they did, but I know they had one of their last missions in Japan post WW1 and they had brought aviation folks with....

All of ya'll are correct. The US provided aircraft, the French trained their pilot cadre and the British established the Imperial Naval Air Forces. Next trivia question up . . .

HMS Renown. Both beloved by Adm. Fisher.

Anachronus, you are correct. One of the ships is HMS Renown, what is the other?

I can never tell the two apart. It must be Repulse, though I thought you were being clever and having two Renowns.

No, no cleverness. But you are correct, they are the Repulse and Renown. Hard to believe that they are sister ships.

The PreDreadnought Renown was a class of one, Fisher Flagship when he commanded the Mediterranean Fleet. He liked its speed even if it did have 10" guns. The Renown and Repulse were a pair of Battlecruisers he ordered after the Battle of the Falklands.

I shall post something when I can get back to my reference works. I'm evacuated from Isaac.

Glad you said 'one of the last' because her near-sister is still in well-maintained glory in Greece.
