Pop is still too big of a sound

Almost fell off my chair laughing at the small font bang and boom!

Maybe I should answer this one for you, and post another question. (One a little easier to research.)

    You were closer with puff.

    Think of a .22 compared to a .357.

And then think of a llama.

My google-fu fails me, and everyone else seems to be guessing. We've been on this question for five days now, so I think you've got us all stumped, Knight. It keeps bugging me at random times during the day...

I had come across this question quite by accident. I was looking for the definition to the word "Popeyed". I recall being in an English class in school back in 1960's and searching in my dictionary for a nautical term. I recall finding a word that said: naval term for silly, or almost drunken behavior. I thought that word was Popeyed. I was not about to post such a question unless I could document it. I did come across sub caliber firing exercises. I had not expected it to be such a hard question!

By the way, the word (Popeyed) did give me an "A" in class that day! Which is most likely why I still recall the event today.

Popeyed? I came across 'piff' while searching for it. Of course, now I can't find the reference anymore. Go figure.

Piff is the correct answer for sub caliber firing.

If my memory serves me correctly "Popeyed" was a term for a Sailor being silly or portraying a drunken behavior.

OK Nwmyers, You have the next question.

Sorry, I was not trying to confuse folks.

I was searching for the definition of 'Popeyed', but could not find it!
I did come across the term 'PIFF' and felt that it fit with what we are doing at each of our meets. So I when with 'PIFF' question instead of 'Popeyed' question.

I mentioned 'Popeyed' in hope that someone out there would know the definition and share it. The only definition that I can find means bulging eyes. UGH!
