    Here is a question:
What was the longest ship in the USN during WW1?

I'd put my money on either a liner-turned-troopship or an aircraft carrier. I'm feeling a bit too lazy right now to find out which one, though.

You are on track, if no one gets it, I'll release the answer on Sunday.

I did not think that there were any aircraft carriers during WW1, so I would guess that it would be a liner.
All of the liners that I know of are British, French or Italian! The only American Liner that I can recall the name of is post WW2!

I cheated and found it with google. Boy what that ship went through! It was interesting reading.

The answer is USS Levithan, formerly the HAPAG liner Vaterland.

If none else will donate a question, I suppose i should keep things going. HMS Hood was not the only thing named "Hood" to be involved in an explosion. There is also a volcano in Oregon that blew up roughly 200 years ago. I ask you to identify two other "Hoods" that famously blew up.

Rear Admiral Hood was blown up in the explosion that destroyed HMS Invincible during the battle of Jutland.

That's one down, a good start. There's one more "Hood" that I'm thinking of that had a fiery end.

I only know the first three, so I'll have to let someone else answer.

The last one was named ironically after the mountain, wasnt it? Ammo carrier Mt Hood?

Correct. Captain Cook got half, Nick got the second half. I can't really decide between you two, so I'll let you fight it out to post the next question.

Nick, if you have a question, then go right ahead and post it, but here is another to keep it going: What was the only USN cruiser not named after a US city?

I thought that the USS Alaska was a heavy cruiser.

Technically she was called a Large Cruiser. She was armed and armoured like a Battlecruiser, but the USN didn't use the term.
