I have to raise a red flag on this one. I pulled out my old copy of Guinness Book of World Records where it states:
    Largest Battleship
The largest battleship now is the USS New Jersey, with a full-load displacement of 65,000 tons and an overall length of 887 ft 7 in, exactly 4 in longer than its sister ships, the Iowa, the Missouri, and the Wisconsin, which at the time of commissioning in 1943-44 all displaced 45,000 tons. ...

Hmmm...I think I know what story you're going for but did you pick the wrong guy? Capone had a lawyer named Eddie O'Hare, nicknamed "Easy Eddie," who turned against Capone and provided evidence that helped convict Capone on tax evasion. Eddie's son was Butch O'Hare, the famous WW2 fighter pilot who became the Navy's first ace of the war. O'Hare won the Medal of Honor and, after his death, had O'Hare Airport in Chicago named for him.
As for "Slick Willie," Willie Sutton was a famous bank robber in the gangster era that made Al Capone famous, but I don't think there was any particular connection between them.

What I have stated that the Wisconsin after the collision was 8 inches longer than the rest off the class. Which would still give her 4 inches on the New Jersery. The difference came from when the navy put the Kentucky's bow on her

Looks like my old age is catching up with me.
For some strange reason my brain had switched Easy Eddie for Slick Willy.

In any case, Eljefe You hit it on the head. You are up.

When you type "longest battleship" into a search engine, all the hits seem to be for the New Jersey. I also asked a coworker who worked on the Iowas when they were recommissioned in the 1980s, and he said he thought New Jersey was the longest and Missouri/Wisconsin the shortest! The data he had said the following:
New Jersey: 887 ft 7 in
    Iowa: 887 ft 3 in
    Missouri & Wisconsin: 887 ft 2 in
I think the true answer is probably impossible to determine with certainty until someone goes out with a tapemeasure and can tell for sure!

Here's one I just learned a week ago:

During World War II, American submarines launched torpedo attacks on a piece of land they mistook for a Japanese warship on two separate occasions. What is the name of this place?

Is that the sub that was credited with a Train for one of it's kills?
OPS! Maybe I should have kept that for one of my future questions???

I wonder if there is a way to review an old episode. But I recall the Military Channel had a program about the USS Wisconsin. The program talks about the entire career of the Wisconsin. They also covered the collision and how the bow from the USS Kentucky added enough inches onto her lenght to make her the Longest of the Iowa's.

Here's another clue to help out with the land that looked like a warship question. It's an island that used to be the most densely populated place on Earth but is now completely abandoned. Can anyone name this island?

That's right, pamnjay! Hashima Island near Nagasaki is an uninhabited island off the Japanese coast that was a major coal mining facility from 1897 to 1974 owned by Mitsubishi. At its height, the residential portion of the island was the most densely populated place on the planet.
The high-rise apartment complexes built to house the miners and their families helped give the island the appearance of a warship superstructure. The illusion prompted the locals to nickname the place Gunkanjima, or "Battleship Island." In silhouette, the island looked so much like a battleship that a pair of American subs actually torpedoed it during World War II! The following photo really demonstrates where the nickname comes from...
Hashima was abandoned in the 70s as the Japanese economy switched from coal to oil. The island is now completely deserted and the buildings are gradually being destroyed by the harsh sea environment and occassional typhoons.

Ok, what was the nautical, first civilian casualty of World War II and what happened to it?
    Again, sorry for the delay.
