Wasn't that the first to be air-conditioned as well?

I am pretty sure that they were the first in the IJN that were airconditioned. Makes you sit back and give all those that fought in the Pacific credit. When nobody had a/c and the ships were dark colored. Heck I had a dark colored truck that got hot even with a/c.

alot of ships had some airconditioning system , infact some ships blew up thanks to that same airconditioning system

ijn Taiho and uss Lexington both had ruptured fueltanks and switched on the airco wich spread the gasses around and well .. both are home to the fish thesedays.

in lexington's case it was a build up of vapor in the generator room that caused the fatal spark it had seeped through cracks in the bulkhead , keeping the airco running delayed the fatal mixture from beeing reached a while.

Wrong. Shinano was a Shinano class carrier. Had she been completed as a battleship, she would have been a Yamato class battleship.

Nobody considers the Indpendence class CVLs to be Cleveland class, it's the same thing. The Furious and Courageous class comparison is invalid since the Furious was a completely separate class from the Courageous class, much like the Wichita separate although related to the Brooklyns.

Yep. While the Courageous and Glorious were armed with 4 15" guns (insufficient guns for effective fire control) the Furious was designed with 2 18 inch guns and a beamier hull. They were step sisters, but nothing even close to the same class.

Kotori , your turn to ask the next one, Shinano was laid down as a yamato class superdreadnaught and was converted after the battle of midway, at that time her main deck and armour where in place so she is a capital ship and belonged to the yamato class till her conversion started ..

I'm thinking, I'm thinking! I went through my ready-use trivia questions a long time ago, and it takes time to make up more. I hope to have something in the next few days, though.

OK, I got one! Name the ugliest ship ever built.

just kidding, here's the real one:
name the first target that the torpedo-cruiser RM Luigi Cadorna fired its guns in anger at, and describe the results. hint: don't bother googling this one, because the answer can be found on this website.

An ugliest ship thread would quickly surpass this one in size and would quickly degenerate...glad you didn't ask it. ;)

Hey, what's the deal here, everyone forget about trivia? I am going to hazzard a guess that with the lack of response to this question, no one was able to find the answer. I don't know it and haven't been able to find it. Kotori87 we give you this one and how about posting a new question?

OK, here's a question to reboot the trivia thread...

What ship nearly torpedoed the USS Iowa while the president of the United States was aboard?

Destroyer USS William D. Porter, DD-579. A little over-enthusiastic exercise, huh?

Yes, the "Willie D" earned the affectionate greeting, "Don't shoot, we're Republicans!" for its accidental launch of a live torpedo that almost hit USS Iowa while Pres. Franklin Roosevelt was aboard. The Porter is a strong candidate for the unluckiest ship in history, given its several brushes with infamy over its short career.

Congratulations to the guy who has no good questions to ask--you get the right to ask another question!
