Having studied the wild Tugboat for years and knowing his printbed limitations, combined with the information that Anachronus is getting one for christmas, I would think he is building some manner of Pre-dread or armored cruiser.

I reread the last few post, and realized that I missed Tugboat saying that it had stringers. Scratch the destroyers. :) Now I'm siding with Nick something in the pre-dread or armored cruiser line. Boy, that is going to be a big list! Hmmmmmmmmmm......... better just wait for the teaser pics. :)

Not a spoiler but I do wish that Tug would get Effie back online. That and a Popovka are the only two Russian predreads that I have ever heard of being built.

My money is on the beautiful Borodino class PDN 3d model I made a while ago and recently shared with Tugboat. With a hull like that, a 3d printer is the ONLY way to build it....

A Borodino would be WAY COOL. Slava has gone a long way to make up for that class' poor reputation.

A tempting idea, the Borodino... but the ship I'm doing is MWCI and IRCWCC legal.

    So far we know:
Tugboat will likely be printing an armoured cruiser or PDN
Tugboat has earlier let slip that the subject has casements
It is a ship that Anachronus likes and must want, because otherwise why would Tugboat plan to give him one for fat-man-in-the-chimney day?
Anachronus is doing some research for it and sending it to Tugboat. This makes me think it is a US ship.
Tugboat has said it is going to be MWCI/IRCWCC legal
Tugboat intends to print this thing, so its likely it will not be ovelry large so as to minimize the number of segments he has to join.

I strongly suspect von Tugboat is intending to fabricate a PDN, I think this likely has more appeal than an armoured cruiser.

If I had to guess today, I would guess Tugboat is intending to build an armada of Connecticut class PDNs

I did some digging into recent ancient history and found this thread regarding 1/96: http://www.rcnavalcombat.com/Forum/tabid/58/aff/560/aft/407167/afv/topic/Default.aspx
In this thread Tug clearly indicates that he is expecting plans for a USS Connecticut and that it would not be the bottom of his list. In 1/144, its size is reasonable for being printed.
    Connecticut class PDNs have casements
Connecticut class PDNs are US ships (Anachronus connection #1)
Connecticut class PDNs look suspiciously like Anachronus' avatar (Anachronus connection #2)
Anachronus has expressed an interest in a Connecticut class previously (google it yourself, i already closed the tab and forgot to copy the link first)
Tugboat and many others seem to have an affection towards the paint schemes employed by the US during the pre-war years.
Anachronus has stated that he is slowly working on such a ship. A printed hull would speed him towards completion. http://www.rcnavalcombat.com/Forum/tabid/58/afv/topic/aff/549/aft/441731/afpg/2/Default.aspx
Anachronus has indicated that he possesses builders plans for the Connecticut/Louisiana
Anachronus has indicated that he is FROM Louisiana. BB-19 was the Louisiana.

I could be very wrong. :D

Beautifully reasoned. One small error is that my avatar is not a USN vessel, but it would be high geekery indeed to know the class (of one) that it is.

Most impressive, master Nick. Most impressive. I am indeed working on the USS Connecticut. No hints on the next class to be printed :) But I'm doing at least 2 Connies. Of course, once I have the file done, I can print one anytime. But I wanted to do a Christmas present for James.

I tried pretty hard to figure out your avatar, and I internally concluded there was a high probablity that it wasn't a Connecticut, as I was unable to find a matching picture online (and I looked at a lot of them), but I was willing to go with the 'looks a lot like' as a line of reasoning in part because while I could not substantiate it, it was part of the initial thought process that led me to like the Connie while looking at the MWCI PDN shiplist.
Now I'm going to have to figure out your avatar though...

Thank you, and thank you for not making me wait for the teaser photos to confirm it- I would have spent another horrible number of hours combing through bits of info second-guessing.

Nick, I'll save you the trouble. :) Its the Italian protected cruiser Libia, previously Turkish cruiser Drama. Thanks for the hint in the File Manager, Anachronus. :)
I spent many minutes trying to figure this out too, then I remembered that I saw that exact photo in Anachronus's File Manager page.

Indeed, I have always liked that photograph. I scanned it from a book called "The Ottoman Steel (Steam?) Navy".

Paper, they are from a polish magazine. So not freely available that I'm aware of.

Hah, I'll let you know that it's not that. I hate excess Drama :) Although if someone were to draw it up I'd think about it. We need more WWI ships on the water.
