Hobby King is selling these 6 channel radios with Rx for $32 in mode One. I used to pay that for the Rx back in the day. Too good to pass up! Turnigy TGY-i6 AFHDS Transmitter and 6CH Receiver (Mode 1)
I wonder why the mode 1 is on sale and not the mode 2. They want almost $58.28 for the mode 2 right now. Banggood has the Flysky branded mode 2 for 39.99
Correct. But other than that, they are the same. It is literally just putting the gimbal on one side or the other. I'm just saying I find it odd that mode 1 is on sale for a great price, but not mode 2, especially when mode 2 is more popular in the US and Banggood has the same transmitter for a little less. Global price for the mode 1 is almost the same for mode 2, same for the mode 2 global price though. The sale is only for th US. I suppose right there answered my own puzzlement, they are probably sitting on a lot of mode 1s in their Us warehouse(s) and want to make room for mode 2s
Why do I get the feeling “a couple” really means a fleet on par with the British empires Grand Fleet? Lol
No, the Deutsche Marine! I want to make a 3-D printed ship design over the winter with fixed cannons. The Nassau has 4 wing turrets Plus two on the centerline that we could mount pointed out in a fixed position. Three turrets per side. I was reminded of the power of fixed turrets with Julian's VU at the last WWCC battle. Fixed turrets should really simplify the internals and reliability...
They have a very similar layout. Advantage goes to Nassau, however due to her dual rudder setup. I think she'll turn much better
Interesting idea Jeff. If I might make a suggestion, have the aft turret fixed to the rear fire position. If you want to go with fixed guns the fast gunners can definitely help with what the best angles are.
Yeah, I could see the benefit there... Or, those four mean looking guns could be armed in .177 per WWCC rules
What are your opponents of concern? Knowing who you're up against gives you a good idea of how they'll approach you. For example, let's say your primary concern is torpedo-cruisers and destroyers. A straight aft-facing cannon is not useful, because it'll be firing into the impenetrable bow of the opponent, and you'll get maybe two shots max during the approach. Those tiny stern casemate guns are also useless, since they go right where your steering gear is supposed to fit. However, if you arm the two aft wing turrets, facing approximately 45 degrees aft, you are guaranteed a high-probability shot against any approaching torpedo-boat. And when a cruiser and battleship swap hit-for-hit, the battleship wins every time. Heck, at that point I would consider doing a single-barrel MJV gun, because even swapping two-for-one is a winning proposition against cruisers. Casemate guns are also an option against torpedo-boats. Being lower to the water, they can cause hull damage over a wider range, but will not fare well against armored targets unless impacting near perpendicular to the armor. Other options include the four cardinal directions, or fixed sterns and rotating bow gun. You may also consider powering only the center shaft, so you can redirect more of your thrust with the rudders. Just don't go overboard in arming the Nassau. It's not much bigger than a predread, and while it's possible to physically fit everything, assembling and disassembling the ship for maintenance and repairs will be like playing a game of Tetris.
