RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) Still looking beautiful! Are your barbettes through-mounted, meaning a portion of them sinks through into the hull or top-mounted onto your deck? Looks like your aft emplacement is a through-mount, just curious to hear if that's a better way to do it than a top-mount, or if it's a personal preference sort of thing.

RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) In my past projects, I have tried both.
But I have found that if I keep the barbette above the deck, then I still have to protect the part of the cannon that hangs below
    the deck with something.
So I decided to use something that protrudes into the hull this time around in order to conceal the cannon.
I am not sure that it is the best method. But you never know until you try.
I plan to use coil mag cannons. So I will be able to build mounts for the cannons that fit into the PVC so that I can move them
    around if I like.

RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) The Alaska as of today.
I was able to get a little work done on the superstructure. Mostly cutting out the levels.
So it doesn't look like much has changed. But when I get them glued to the foam, it will
    start looking like a superstructure.
Phil's Baltimore is in the middle, and my Le Terrible in in the front.

RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) I can't seem to get the photos to resize correctly for some reason.
But it is better than not being able to post photos at all.

Edit the post, then right click on the pics, it'll pop up an options box that will allow you to edit the properties...
EDIT: Nevermind, I had an extra 10 minutes to kill on lunch and fixed them myself (more or less). Moderator powers can be good if used sparingly :)

RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) It is some sort of closed-cell foam that I got from BDE years ago.
It works pretty good. But not as good as the stuff that Strikemodels sells with their kits.

RE: USS Alaska (Treaty/fast-gun) Someone posted that they found some rubber mats for a pretty good price, and cut them up.
