Okay back to business I'm finally on the last leg striped her down for outfitting and New coat of paint [^] Top Side
what rules do you run getty and send me some dates maybe I can get a few of the guys to go with me wink wink Don []
yes you did take you like the (Regia Marina Italia) so what happend to you geting the Andrea Doria or shall we call you all talk down. get a ship and we will all help
Really nicely done, I like the gun system layout. My only question is, with the wood superstructure, and the poppets mounted under the deck, what does the side to side stability of the model look like. Are you sure you are not getting too top heavy. The reason I'm asking, Dons new Cleveland which we are going to call, rock the boat baby, due to its rolling back and forth like a pendulum. It never seems to stop once it starts, due to the excessive topside weight. I think the only solution for him is to make a combat deck super light, and save his pretty one for show. That way he can add more weight down low. Hard for you too tell till you sheet it, and put it in some water.
yes if I put it in the water now I can assure you it wont rock at all it wont have time to on its way down [] I hemmed and hawed over that as well but my super is pretty light (it is all hollowed balsa after the first story which is 1/8 ply shell both together weigh less than a pound ) and every thing ells is pretty low so I’m suspecting I wont have any trouble with top heavy if so well its back to the drawing board .[V] And yes there are bilge keels on her as well [^]
Dons weights almost 2 pounds with the deck, so if your under a pound, you should be fine. My Kumano is right at 11 oz with the center deck section.
Every thing you see on the deck is sitting on a hole every thing is hollow any wood not needed is now in a box waiting for the fall to go into my wood stove []
I just took every piece of top deck and weighed it 3.4 lb out of 13.4 that seams like a fair balance and most of that weight is below deck close to water line not a whole bunch of free board to her 10 lb should counter it just fine *crosses fingers*
