I understand, I brought you into this mess and now I have to pay. Besides, Steve will have his hands full as he always does.
The nice thing is it will be hard to miss me driving a BIG STRIPED TARGET!

I have to move my throttle switch location. and the same for the pump switch. Whith the pneumatics installed the rear hatch wont fit. I did manage to put some resin on the motor mounts to keep them in place.

Slight set back. No matter where I place the switch a hatch wont completely close. I think I will have to stand my batteries up and place the throttle switch in between. The armor belt is now installed.

Hey Paul. Can you send me or post pics of what you have there so I can see what the problem is. If your trying to set it up like PE that should be no issue as that hull is deeper than PE. It sounds like your mount for the throttle switches is too big or you have teh switches set way too high. Are they vertical or horizontal or on an angle

A quick fix to this is to cut out a section of your main deck where it is beneath superstructure so that the when you place the deck down the portion of the switch that is hitting the underside of the deck will just be recessed inside of the space you have hollowed out. That way the deck will still sit flush. Send a few pics Paul so I can help you out.

the throttle switches were in the rear of the ship next to the throttle servo. The problem is with the straight mags. The cannons are touching the throttle switch. There is one more spot I can potentially move it . It is in front of the pump. I am looking at mounting on the battery as well.

Disaster struck today. I was moving the throttle switch and one of the prongs to the switch snapped. it snapped right at the base of the prong.

Every time that happens to me I end up buying three more to fix it and keep spares. This is your mag switch? You need a spare switch or two. You also could have a spare mag switch ready to go. This week all my auto pumps failed! Last time it was drivetrain dogbones. More work in progress as I make a autoswitch/manual switch combo.

    Paul,
ESCs are the way to go.
They can be put down on the bottom of the hull where the are out of the way.
They have several built in protection circuits and are extremely reliable.
If you decide to go with ESCs call me. I have a guy.

One more thing, the Viper Marine is the one to go with (meant to say that above but I can't edit posts here).
It has instant reverse at 100% and is water proof. Mine has been in my water channel since Aug 08 with no issues.

Jay what type of Viper Marine do you have? Looking at getting a pair for Missouri and Tom Cromwell is looking at ESC for his IOWA.

Well I have decided to see if I csan get a replacement switch before going to an esc. So in the meantime the build continues. I prepped more balsa today. Also the first piece of balsa has glued to the hull. Hopefully I can get a good amount sheeted tommorow.

They are called Mtroniks Viper Marine SUB10. They are goog to 40 amps, so they should work OK in yours and Tom's big allied targets ;). If you go to the website you can read all the specs.
PM me if you want more info,

I wired mine up like an ESC so I can swap them if needed. The mag is my backup. I also made it out of a block of wood so I can replace a switch or the servo if needed. Everything just screws into the wood. Then I bought a double relay from team delta as a mag back up too. I am starting to get a whole bunch of redundant sytems in case of failure. The esc's have fried in the past so I use one, I just don't trust it. i may get some cheapos off ebay to play.

I might rewire it for an esc after NATS or during the winter. Right now I want to get the thing on the water. Internally it is mostly completed. If I can get it sheeted then I can start to wire the pump as I want to see which way the impellor runs. And of course test the auto pump switch

I would love to be able to go to NATS but in my position I cannot allow myself and my 2 I/C go on leave at the same time. He has had leave in for about 2 months and has his trip all paid for. Next year.

If you go to this site http://www.mtroniks.net/details1.asp/ProductID/190/sid//Viper-sub10.htm you can find out everything you could ever want to know.
    I don't them there though.
