ok ill be posting pictures if i can figure out how today.
some background, i started with a set of strike model plans ,they were amazing but being new to the hobby i was also surprised by how much you have to do to make a battlers boat from them.
after a lot of reading i got my frames templates figured out and cut out, then i read tugs posts on frames and redrew them shorter to allow for the sub deck and deck then i had to redo them because i didnt draw the location for the keel notches lol any way its all done and the frames and subdeck glued to the wood
i decided to go with sanded pine 1/4 inch ply for the first build i have no hobby stores anywhere near me and the total cost was 9.99 for a 2 foot by 4 foot piece i havent modeled in probably 20 years so if i screw it up too bad ill burn it and start over , for the deck ill order hobby plywood.
At the point im at now i have the front half of the keel cut out most of the subdeck cut away from the sheet and the ribs cut off the main sheet just need to seperate them

i have a question on the ribs i believe from reading and looking at pictures that its ok to flatten the deck from side to side? the cleveland ribs all are angled on the top and as i looked at tugs ribs he seemed to cut them straight across the top and just want to clarify that before i cut them later today.

Jimmy, it's totally okay to make the deck flat. I've seen one or two ships where the guy actually modeled the curve of the deck, but by far, most people just leave it flat.

I did some work on the server, and it should now accept anything short of 16megapixels, (4000x4000 pixels). It will of course resize anything you feed it to fit a 1200x1200px envelope once you upload it, but it needs to have less than 16million pixels at the time you upload it. So if you could give uploading a try again, hopefully we've addressed the woe.

I usually do my image cropping with this: Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing . Its easy to use, functional, and created by guys from my alma mater. Go Cougs!

Uh sorry, I should have been specific about where to click. I forgot their website (not maintained by the school) has those obnoxious ads that may or may not have trouble attached. Be careful where you click!

so some questions beam on a ship is measured where? i think waterline but want to be sure
also length is that at the deck or water line
in the irc rules it says my ship is 5.5 at scale beam i cant get that anywhere i am thinking the drawings are wider due to the lines drawn and im just trying to get the sanding all done so i can glue her together tommorrow

Beam is usually the widest part of the hull, usually at the top of the deck. 5.5" is the correct beam so your plans may be off, who are they by?
