Pacific Model Warship Club in 1/72 scale has been over run with damm German Z-Boats. So the allies began a building program to combat this with several Gearing Class ships either completed or near complete. The first was Deryk's USS Gearing. USS Gearing: New ship for 2016. So far she has been rammed and rammed, and rammed again. After being sunk last event, she was rammed again and again this event (I posted the last ram hole yesterday). Below is the latest outcome for the USS Gearing after yet another ram. Can anyone tell me which one is the USS Gearing? I have to put in a plug for the great job that was done vac-u-forming the entire superstructure... and yes, it floats! I also have to ask; could it be the camo paintjob that's attracting all the attention? PS This really is a very nice ship, that's just run into a bit of bad luck.
I concur, it's gotta be the camo scheme. Dazzle camo is well-known for its ability to conceal the shape and direction of any ship so concealed, thus your opponents have no idea where you are going and regularly bump into you by accident. I suggest you try a different scheme, ie false horizon (enemy can't tell range), false bow wave (enemy can't tell speed), false destroyer (looks like you have escorts), or Mountbatten Pink (totally invisible during sunset/sunrise).
Or pay attention to your surroundings and don't assume everyone sees you. He has changed it just incase.
What a cool concept, a destroyer that morphs into a submarine and like everyone said, that paint job is begging everyone to pile on and sink her. she looks great, above and below the seas!
