Will hijack my own thread. When ordering from Sig, I am not seeing a secure connection when going through the checkout process, is this the same for anyone else? I created an account, but when I get to the payment screen and it asks for what CC # it is not secure (same for anyone else)?
This is the magazine tube near the cap. In the picture you can just make out the second tube that is used for reducing the diameter so there is not as much flow. The issue was double fire (seems the flow was really pushing a second BB into the breech). Now, no more doubles...
so what was questionable about this? Earlier I thought you had implied a potential rules issue? I don't see one..
No, I didn't want anyone thinking it was not safe as it is not the standard design. Rules comment turned out to be unfounded as it went very smoothly. To the few that I showed the cannon they didn't see any safety issue. Just error on the side of caution
They are mounted in the superstructure. Just swivel to access the magazine caps or remove each cannon.
So what is so cool? The magnets (one on each side of the Tee) holds the BB in place. The pin has a point on the end, this helps to separate the BB's so that only one fires at a time. A groove is cut on the flat part of the Tee to allow a little more gas into the gun. No uptube means little wear (slamming into the top of the elbow), shorter distance for the BB to travel which means faster pulls on the trigger. Big plus is it can fit into most cruiser superstructures and have the barrels exit the turret face. Judge for yourself...
I will weigh the gun, but it is light with the thin walled tubing. 3D print the bottom of the Tee and the magazine cap and that would be a good start. Looking at Strikes injection pin method would allow an even stronger magnet to be used. What is also great is each builder can make their own version, this is nothing new other than design. The gun can be fired pointing in any direction, so the Tee does not need to be in the down position. I have it that way on the Gearing to keep the top weight down. If this was the fletcher, I would have the Tee on its side. The only deck penetration is for the gas lines, so no need to worry about swamping the boat in reverse.
Any more pics or videos of the gearing or Fletcher's in action? Finally pulled mine back off the shelf and started working on it again.
Just got a good look at a pair of Vac-u-boat Fletchers in refit over at John's house today. those things are pretty fantastic little ships. I'm going to have to get ahold of them and see about getting a kit or two
Are these availible yet? I am going back over the road and am looking forward to getting back on the water this year in a big way.
Last I talked with Phil, he's fixing to make some Gearings soon. he said he'd get back to me about the price point once he has a batch made
