This is a bit more expensive but less weight and smaller too. This will be the route I take. Also allows use of 16g screw in capsules. Less than $1.25 each if you buy 30 or more at a time. https://palmerspursuit.com/collections/adapters/products/3-8x24-to-825x14-adapter
lol the only cartridges we have in AK are the 20g. go big or go home is our philosophy for shipping HAZMAT!
The gearing is getting in shape for production run, heard from Phil (he is on here sometimes) and he should be done soon. Now that winter has almost left the south, time to get the ship in shape. Low cost, easy to build should help get a few more on the water and eventually into bigger boats. Lou
This interests me greatly as I have a few buddies who would be more likely to join the hobby at a lower initial investment like a Gearing. We await eagerly with credit cards ready!
Lets get a season of battling them before making available to everyone, this is now a mark2 but I expect a few more changes before end of this year.
It is more expensive than an average build (smaller systems means more expense), but a great way to get others into the hobby.
Just came back from Nats. Sorry, I did not get the name of the gentleman who brought a Gearing in longterm memory. grin. In short, it worked great. Neat little ship. I did not hear of any gun issues. He uses the poppet actuator I believe. It drove well and survived several Ramunders. Not for everyone but an interesting offering for the hobby. His was built in 2 days. I can see it as an intro to the hobby but mostly as a convoy killer or in cruiser battles. Yes, I emailed Phil and am ordering one- which is the best endorsement.
Yep, it was John. If you have any questions let us know, John got to have his first Nats with it and has a lot of changes that will be posted later (I am sure he will share)
I was letting him shoot the side of my Kumano, in the mid section during the Wed cruiser battle. They either went over, just a few, or bounced off. John was not very happy, because he thought his gun could not penetrate the balsa. I told him not to worry, the mid section was hard where he was hitting me. He backed up a few inches, and they went right in.
