A tupperware container should would pretty well for a watertight box. I use the same caps on the pump as on the motor, back when i built my first ship the pump motor was causing all sorts of radio glitches and i started doing it then to try and cut down on the glitches and I've just always kept doing it. Currently I use Power pole connectors for connecting ll my main power wires, I used the deans ones in the past and personally i just like the power pole ones better. They are both great connectors and both are widely used in the hobby. ( Visit this site

In my experiences more hobby shops have deans connectors if you only need to pick up one or two but I just buy the power poles in bulk from tower hobbies so I have a stockpile. I dont think you can get either at trossen if thats where you are looking at wire.

As for the team delta boards you don't need those. If you decide you want them in the future is pretty easy to put them in but for now I would recommend that you just go with what you have, it will work just fine.

I am not getting replies to posts that I make. They are not emailing me a reply so I don't know people are answering my post.
    Thanks Snipe
I just found your post. I'm not getting any email saying I have a reply. Gotta find the reason. Maybe I'll order wire and some deans plugs tomorrow. Do you think radio shack carries good wire for this?

hehe, probably something got upset when the website switched servers, you might have to email justin about it.

They probably have wire at radio shack or home depot that will work, get something thats flexible, thats really the thing that helps the most, nice flexible wire. I know Kenvil hobbies has Deans plugs if you want to use those, so does zeppelin.

It looks like the cruiser radio box is made of Balsa- is that not a bit too prone to getting shot though?

Also, I have seen problems with wood radio boxes that are not sealed on the inside. If they leak they are very hard to get dried out again, s the wood absorbes the water.

Looks like I have to go Bob's DVD to see pump and servo box and wiring ideas. Got the good wire and connector plugs. Now to put it together.

The balsa has fiberglass on the outside so it can take a hit. Way back when I built it I tested a bunch of different balsa thicknesses and how many layers of fiberglass were needed to stop a BB fired at point blank. I never had a problem with it leaking and absorbing water, but thats a good point. Ive moved away from water boxes and just waterproof all the electronics now. Its easier and more reliable I think.

Justin said the email is fixed so I hope I start getting replies. Gotta get moving on my ship again. Got my wire and connectors.
Where should the control box with servos be located in the ship? Any Pics?

Generally it is placed in front of the batteries and behind the CO2 tank.

I'll have to check out some older pics to see where that is. Maybe your old pics you sent.
Wish I had the time to go to a build to get the help.

oh hush up [;)], I havent used deans since 2006 NATS, well except for servo and TD boards and solenoids (and those are all the small connectors), all my main wiring is powerpoles, they are a lot easier to work with I think. (they dont have tiny powerpole connectors do they?)

you may notice tuggy that I switched from deans to powerpoles right after I met you. stupid jedi mind tricks....

darticus, if you cant make one of the build dates the guys are talking about we can try and work out a time to meet up and I can give you a hand. you wont get to see as many different ships and methods in person but its easier than talking here.

One of the nicer box setups I've seen is in Rob Stalnaker's Bismark. I think I have a photo at home ... I'll try to post it late tonight after work.

For my Richelieu, I used the lock-n-store type plastic box bought from Walmart. A set of three boxes costs around $8. There was three sizes; a sandwich size, a smaller rectangle size, and a circle shaped box. The boxes have a rubber seal for the lid to seat on, and locking tabs on all four edges to keep that lid closed tightly. So far, not a single drop inside the radio box ... even after being 8' deep after a sink last Feb.

SnipeChris, if you're a good boy, I'll send a nice allied hull up to Nats for you to redeem yourself into the light :)

If you're a bad boy, I'll buy lithium BBs for Pete D to shoot you with at Nats :) What are you driving these days, anyway? I need to plan my ship-building for Nats 09 so I can sink you on Wednesday in a duel :)

I doubt I will be going back allied any time soon.

Last winter I built a VDT and I love it, its so much fun out on the water. So this winter I decided to scratch build a VDT, so far its turning out pretty well, i should have it on the water next month if all goes according to plan, its actually pretty close to being done. Hopefully it will be even better than the one I built last year. I have a Z-boat hull I want to build, maybe by NATS maybe not, see how things go. Longer term building a convoy ship might be kinda fun and I would sorta like to rebuild my old Brooklyn but with IRCWCC cruiser rules the way they are its kinda killing any drive to do that. I still should. Longer term my next battleship will probably be a scratch built Bismark but thats probably a few years off cause Id rather spend the time and money on some R&D type stuff rather than starting another boat. Ive got some ideas that ive been wanting to try for a while now and im getting to the point where I'll have the time and funding to explore them further.

I'll send you an email, lets see if we cant work out a way to meet up in the near future.

Need info on a servo box. Wanted to use tupperware container but haven't seen one to get ideas from. Any pics that can help please post. I'm thinking the USS Maryland uses 3 servos and it ESC to go in the box.
