Even with it being dead in the water they were still frightened by the Imperial crest

Maybe I missed it, but what type of paint did you use on this ship? Color/brand/type/matte or flat?

Believe topside was a grey primer (rustolium brand, spray) sides are latex after browsing through color palates. Not sure of historical accuracy of specific shades, I tend to focus on functionality over looks

Started the second significant refit over the past week. Plan is to do the following
    • Improve acceleration - swap motors, maybe props
    • Change gun layout - stern sidemount and bow guns
    • swap pumps - 1 brushless auto, 1 brushed
    • clean up some internals

Motor testing continued. Previously ran 750kV 42mm outrunners. I was not pleased with motor reversal time - time changing direction from full forward to full reverse. I had hoped to be able to get 750's in there but doesn't look like the motor plates would survive the mod. I ran a motor fight club, putting several models head to head.
    500kV vs 750kV (shown below) - 500kV won out
    500kV vs 1100kV 38mm - 500kV won out again. 1100 wasn't quite as bad as the 750kW
500kV vs 550 brushed - Brushed motor won handily, which is what I expected
Since I couldn't get the 750 onto the mounts (without preventing the mounts from being used with the 500kV), I will go with the 500kV for now. Also considering 24V 555 if the performance on the water doesn't pan out. I took videos of a few other the comparisons, might post in the future

printed a pump shield. It snaps in on the bottom, has two supports on the back
    5183AC8A-5639-4008-AC06-823725980BAB.jpeg
came out alright, probably will tweak the dimensions a little for the next one

    shifting gun layout
This is before. keeping B turret, shifting A to 15 degree bow guns. Will have to shift bottle for clearance
    98365B1F-6EAE-4F0B-B435-44623D2D5594.jpeg
Stern guns. Pretty useless with the length of the stern deck. will be nice to have dual stern sides

worked on wiring in the boat, removed about 10-15ft. Boat serves as bench
    C4898F8D-52F2-46F5-9223-7BF65D9752CE.jpeg
printed up switch holders I made for another boat
    A70003FB-EDA9-427A-927D-1C218B380918.jpeg
next steps will be new gun mounts, finishing the pump conversion

Kevin, I'd love to see your motor comparison video. Would be nice to have a legit reference for some of this stuff instead of just speculation about the magic behind magnets and how they work.

Tomorrow will be bow guns, hard to clear the bottle, maybe some wiring and pump mounts
Also have a plan for getting 775s mounted

Bow mags before. Going to have them come through the deck for ease or reloading

I thought about making motor adapter plates to get the 775s in. 3/16 aluminum. needed to buy a bit for bushing hole

Will probably have to make another initial one, but should work
Needed to make new mags for the ship because they were modified and rebent a few too many times. Removing the connections

Rev 3 of the pump shield. The winged version was too tight for the room I have on Missouri, I think it will work OK on other projects
Rev 3 added holes to go on the existing posts from my brushed pump mount

overall it looks like a solid setup. Pump lifts easy for between sortie gunk checks, but firmly in place for operations. Will need water testing, but I might use the post idea on future builds as well for adaptability.

Kevin, do you order your copper tubing for mags online?

I get 1/4” copper tubing from Lowe’s/Home Depot in 10’ or 20’ lengths for a reasonable price. All of my other gun fittings I order online as Lowe’s/HD can charge 2-4x as much for lower quality products

next step is an epoxy job to seal up each of the small mods here and there, then reassemble guns.
I’m thinking about 24v 755 drive. Just ordered some spark escs (delayed based on temp shutdown). I’ll have to see on pumps if I want to go 555 24v or 4s 2300kv brushless, will need some side by side testing. Hopefully I’ll get the motor plates ready to go this weekend

need to wire up brushless pump, get the auto switch set up, reroute a few co2 hoses. Hopefully sea trials next weekend. Planning to test and video tape with 500kv and then shift to 24v 755s and repeat testing/video, should get solid comparison

Hey, just curious why you went with the sidemounts in B and the funny gun in A?
