I stuck with sides in B because I felt they were the more effective pair compared with A. A legal A turret is hard to get any down angle, I had bent barrels which helped. I didn't want to sacrifice the better sides for potentially better bow gun. The stern guns i had before were useless, so if I can hit anything with the bow it will be a plus. I think the flatter trajectory will give a better chance of making holes. We'll have to see how it goes at Nats

Broke down and made a pump test box. Will be easier than my previous setups

Also made 24v wiring harness today. Added tap offs for 6v and 12v for ease of other system control. will be 8s, 15Ah cells. Supplies to speed control (shipped today), and 2x pumps

Planning to test 4s 2200kv vs 24v 555 in the pump box later to decide which to go with. 755’s are en route from China. Still need to place a hobby king order, and pick up 4mm impellers from BC

    Pump testing complete

    pumps
    60761756-9446-4740-B87C-75D0CA883861.jpeg
    results
    Stinger. 6.2v, 20-25A, 27.5sec per gallon (2.2 gpm)

    555, 26.3v, 3a, 27.5 sec per gallon (2.2 gpm)

    2200kv, 11.7v (down from 13.3 no load), 35-40A, 15 sec gallon (4 gpm)

2200kv was nuts, will need extra attention for reliability, will probably use one or two of these

Is the impeller going to be able to handle that? I’d wonder at what point the blades are destroyed.

I don't think the impeller blades will fail. I think the more common failure modes are:
    • Motor bearing failure
    • Impeller set-screw ejection
    • Hose detaching from pump or outlet orifice
There is also the consideration of taking too much damage, balanced with the impact on the fleet which is harder to quantify.

I'm going to make a 24V wiring harness with tap offs for two separate 12V supplies in series in case I want to run two of these pumps - I don't want 80A running through a single wire. I think it will work, or I'll smoke a speed control

So had to revise the last plan. I checked continuity between input power ground and servo lead ground on the ESC and there was a current path, so having an input 12v higher than receiver ground would not have worked. Shifted to two parallel paths for 12v, with direct wires from battery to the pump supply. This will give 4s, 30Ah on board. Added a connection for a 3s puffy pack in series, which will give 24v nominal for potential drive or 555 pumps. Ended up with this rats nest, it has 4x 12v taps and 3x 24v taps, so motor changes won’t need wiring changes

also printed up potting boxes for 60a escs for the pump

left a cut out for the heat sink

I use the same 2200kv motor you have pictured for my brushless pumps. When I tested them last year before putting them in Bart, I got roughly 3.5~ GPM which I thought was pretty spectacular. I didn't think you believed my claim much, glad to see you have your own test results now showing an even more impressive figure. My will reliably blow up a 40a ESC, I use 60's on them for a safety margin.

Using that exact pump setup I've had no issues with the BC pump base or impellers, just my own problems with ESC's and the one pump motor bearing letting go.

Do I need to pull the Hacker A60 out of my 87" Extra and use it on a pump? o_O On the plane it only pulls about 4400 watts at WOT.

I imagine that he is using cheaper speedo's lol. Most of the china crap says 40a meaning 15a lol.

buttoned her up. Going to try to sneak out for sea trials Sunday. Remaining 755s arrived tonight, so I’ll be ready to drop those in after I get the brushless run in

For example. my closest boat launch is USFS. So. I just happen to take lunch at the launch, and..... Oh look, I had to make sure the dock was well-positioned by standing on it and stuff.

You can pretty much go anywhere and do anything as long as you're wearing a hardhat and yellow vest, and carry a clipboard....

I got in sea trials Saturday. Looks like the kV on the motors was too low given the gear/prop setup. Forward was fine but reverse was pathetic. Getting the boat in my new vehicle was much nicer than in the sedan. I didn't get a citation, which was a plus. There was a police officer that showed up on the other side of the park, then started driving towards where I was, so I quickly pulled the boat, tossed it in the back, and rolled out. Turns out he was going to check something else out, but I had seen enough

Decided to cut to the chase and install the best setup I can think of. Ordered RS-775-WC-8514 motors, planning to run them at 18V nominal (closer to 20), 19.5k RPM no load, a whopping 12.4 kg-cm stall torque. It's essentially the 775 version of the drivetrain I have in Agincourt. The 755's I ordered wont get a high enough rpm for the gear reduction and props I have. They might work better in a direct drive setup.
Also decided to trim and flip the props. Cut them from 2 1/8"ish to 2" and flipped them

should have great bite going into reverse
    F11D429D-3CB6-4132-9D83-0A78E015D769.jpeg
Need to up the wire gage and swap the connector on the 18V boosting battery. I'll be running a parallel set of 4S for the pumps, and 2S more in series for drive

Got the shafts in with the backwards props. Also printed up new rudders to close the gap between prop and rudder.

Spark ESC ready to go. Expect motors to arrive tomorrow, install this weekend. I added a piece of aluminum to the top that will be in contact with water
