Patience is a virtue that is sometimes earned through cuts, burns, sticky fingers ect.. good work Boomer stay on course
Thanks Curt, im happy with the progress, and if you check out my build, there will be more soon. And Don, i havent made a deck yet, just a subdeck.
Got some pics here The green lines mark where the cross braces are in the subdeck. The turrets and superstructure shape are in place. The line 1" inside the hll is the 1" Rob told me to stay from the outside when cutting holes. Heres a close up of turret 3 and the nearby cross member. I now have to cut the top deck without cutting the subdeck under the superstructure and the 3rd cross member by the rear turret to figure out.
Good job, looks nice. Hope to have my deck on soon. Maybe mine will be finnished not to long after yours.
With my Konig hull I am building I actually trimmed one of the cross members for a coil cannon I am installing. What I did do is reinforce the cross area then with a bit more wood and a small 1/4 aluminum rod to add some strength back to the cross member. That ship is looking good so far. hope to see it someday in person if I am lucky.
My guess is "what do I do with the third crossmember?" Cut through it and we'll put another in somewhere past it. Probably between that hatch and where your rudder access hatch will be.
That looks pretty good to me. It's where I would cut. You can even run the fill tubes for the guns under the stupidstructure.
Should I sand the decks and apply the last coat before or after cutting the deck holes out? I'm thinking after since cutting it might mess up the nice finish from the last coat of epoxy.
Rob, quick question on epoxy. first, i went out and tried to buy some of that Six10 stuff in a tube. It was on order, so ill have it in 2 weeks. I wanted to know though, generally, for epoxy, how bad are the fumes? I ask because, i have to do it in above 50 degrees, which i can only do in my garage. Should i wait until spring or can i do it, and just open the garage a minute before i go out? Thanks, and i should have pics within a couple days.
I did mine yesterday in the garage. Burn a stinky incense if the smell seems bad with the family, or yes open the door. Expansion tanks, I agree on the responses of 1 cubic inch per gun. That being said, I only use one tank which I handmade and fit where I could in my boat. It is 3/4 by 3-4 inches long. Is it the best way to do it? I don't know but I can shoot you to find out if you want...[] and it didn't cost me $50 plus shipping, that's my new esc when I get it.
Right, but as long as they dont stay in a small place to long, the fumes wont hurt you, right? Thanks rob.
