Seydlitz is the New in bad a$$ German ships battled it last year and at Nats
24sec, Great turret layout, .5 unit cannon in A turret, Haymaker, and 15deg. dual sterns, with a full unit pump.
This is my newest setup, before the .5 unit cannon rule passed this year I ran a .5nit pump and 1 unit cannon in A turret

She is a Class 5 fast battleship crammed into a class 4 hull. I would put her up against nearly any ship in the hobby

The ship matters less than the captain of the ship.
I'm very careful around Charley no matter what he battles. Other guys I don't have to be careful no matter what they battle.
If you gave Tim B a loaf of bread with guns he would sink you before the fish eat all of his "ship".

.5 unit cannon rule? I haven't found anything of the sort in the rulebooks I have been perusing, is this in Treaty or IRCWCC? also, if you have a link/copy, would you mind posting it please?

This is IRCWCC, it was on the ballot for last year and passed so it is in effect now in the new year. The revised rules are not posted to the IRC site yet

Imagine the irony of winning the Swiss Cheese Award with a loaf of bread. ;)

I would go with a nice crusty Italian, fluffy on the inside hard and crusty on the outside. Kind of like me?

hey so breads aside, I'm still a bit curious about this half unit cannon thing. Why in the first place?

From the description of Charley's firing arcs, couldn't you just put a 1 unit in A turret, a 1 unit haymaker elsewhere, and a 1.5 stern and have similar performance? it'd reduce you by 25 rounds on the stern, increase sidemount capacity, and require no rule change.

I'd imagine the dual stern would be pretty nice regarding volley weight, but I'm not really seeing how it would be worth the paperwork. Wouldn't those extra 25 rounds in the sidemount be capable of delivering round-for-round more damage, and more below-the-waterline hits?

Combat experience and ship effectiveness has a lot to play here. Getting hit by duals or triples can cause some serious damage comparing to a single shot cannon.
Having more ammo in a crappy firing position does not equal better....
The rule proposal was to remove the mandate if you have a ship with a half unit you don't have to add it to a 1 unit cannon making it 1.5units.
Basically you could do as you please with your units as long as you don't violate other rules.
In my case I have a 4.5unit ship with 4 cannons and adding the brunt of my ammo in the best places, hence a .5unit cannon in A turret
Your above setup is 3 cannons in a class 4 ship adding a full unit to a crappy position.
