We'll miss you there Bob. I'll try to make it out to represent the Eastern Fleet at Ravenna. I don't think that Xenia is really doable for me right now.
By the way Mike, Check your battery for your camera and the memory card. Get some good pictures please.
I'll try. Even when I do remember to make sure the camera is squared away, I typically forget to use it. It's kinda like turning on a pump; I never remember til it's too late.
All I would like to try to schedule a multi-format event with the big-gun folks sometime after the weekend of Sept 13-14 at our battle site in Xenia Ohio. What weekend would work out best, and how many days do we want to make it? Mikey
All I would like to schedule a multi-format event with Treaty, and the MBG on the weekend of Oct 11-12, or 18-19, at the Xenia Ohio site. Please let us know which weekend works better for you so we can set the dates. Mikey
Mikey, I'd love to be there either weekend however, I am in the process of pulling all the internals out of the Alabama for use in the winter project.
All We have the use of the battle site in Xenia, Ohio for next weekend. October 18-19. Do we want to schedule a one-day battle or two-day? Mikey
The Ohio group is trying to schedule battles in both Cinci, and Ravenna in the next month or so. Mikey
I will speak with Josh about inviting the big-gunners to battle in between our sorties at the Cinci event. Mikey
All Phil and I went out to the Xenia site today to show any of the new folks that we met at the Dayton days R/C event what the combat is like. As it turned out, nobody else showed up, so we spent the day putting some new ships on the water, and running sea trials. Phil ran his brand new French heavy cruiser Tourville. She is similar to his Suffren. But she is two knots faster (35 knots), and instead of having two rudders side-by-side, she has one in front of the other. She ran great, and looked fantastic on the water. She turned really well, and kept her speed in the turn also. All-in-all, a great addition to the French fleet. I took some photos of her during sea trials, but for some reason, they are stored on the camera itself, and not the little card that goes in it, and I have not figured out how to retrieve those so far, but I will post them as soon as I figure it out. We also stripped down Jeff C's old Gloire class cruiser, and started transfering the internals into his new Lutzow. After getting the throttle, and rudder hooked up, we put her in the water, and ran her as well. We then worked on the German raider (which I forgot to bring the super-structure for), and put her out on the water and ran her around as well. A really nice looking little ship. So even though we didn't have a battle, we did get some building done, and had a great time. The weather was great. Low 80s, with a little wind. Hood, Strasbourg, and Suffren were there as well, and ready to battle. Mikey
Currently, the next Treaty battle on the calender is our annual Conference (Nats), in Ravenna, Ohio. August 13-16. Mikey
We are trying to put together a build session in the Cincinnati (Ohio) area in the next two weeks. If Josh can make it happen, then we will try to turn it into a battle, with some building as well. If the Cinci site does not work out, then the Dayton area folks will put something together before the end of September. Mikey
I would like to set up a multi-format event with Treaty inviting the Battlestations group to our Xenia, Ohio site sometime in October. Probably the earlier in the month the better. Can anyone have a Battlestations boat ready by then?? Mikey
Phil and I attended the DOGS (Dayton Ohio Giant Scale) fly-in at the Airforce base this weekend. We set up tables, and showed off a grunch of boats, hulls, cannons, and such. Eric dropped in for a while as well, and we explained to folks what we do. The weather was almost perfect. No rain, and although it was a little on the warm side, there was a breeze. We had a lot of folks drop by and ask questions. We spoke with a gentleman that was an AA gunners on the (showboat) USS North Carolina. Another gentleman was stationed on the USS Juneau. We also spoke with a lady who's father was stationed on the Lexington, and was transfered off just before the battle of the Coral Sea. It was a great time, sharing stories, talking up the boats, and hobby. I will try to post some photos later. Mikey
We are trying to set up a build-session/battle in the Cincinnati, Ohio area next weekend (Sept. 12-13). On the weekend of Sept. 26-27, most of the locals will be attending the (Dawn Patrol), a huge fly-in at the Airforce base. We will be scheduling a battle at the Xenia, Ohio site sometime in early Oct. The IRCWCC has been kind enough to invite Treaty down to their Hagerstown, Md. event on Sept. 19-21 to put on a demonstration in between their sorties. Mikey
It looks like Josh will be trying to put together an event in the Cincinnati, Ohio area in the next few weeks. I will post up-dates. Mikey
