I've recently been designing a ship's hull. I thought it might be fun to post a photo of the model and see if anybody can guess what ship it is. (Nick, you can't guess since you already know ) Have fun!
create the spar sections and loft between them. the more spar formers the better the final shape wil look. (this is for pigeon)
A while back I tried modeling an Algerie. Turns out I really didn't know what I was doing and this is what I got. As you can see, I've improved.
What software are you using? Have you looked into Delftship? http://www.delftship.net/DELFTship/index.php/delftship/delftship-free View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCOmPcBZv58
I've been using Autodesk Fusion 360. I've played around with Delftship in the past, but never really learned how to use it properly. My goal with this hull is to create a set of plans from it. I found a set of hull lines for this ship, but I have no clue as to the spacing of the ribs. So I've been using the builder's side and top profile to determine rib station position then lofting between them to check the hull shape. Once I'm happy with the hull shape I'll pull ribs out wherever I want them plus have a top and side profile.
You're on the right track, Will, but that's not it. I expect somebody will have this before noon tomorrow...
