Hey guys, how do you determine who gets the credit for sinking a ship? Is it whoever was the last to shoot the victim? Is it whoever claims credit first? is it whoever "dealt the fatal blow"? (if so, how do you determine what the fatal blow was? examples include shooting the hole that let in enough water to overwhelm the pump, but not the shots before or after) Or is it whoever "doomed the ship to defeat"? (examples include damaging a rudder, snaring the victim in mines, or shooting off the power switch) what do you do when several individuals contribute to a sink, do they each get a kill or do they split it? Does the victim have any say in the credit? And how do you handle scuttles, surrenders, Did Not Returns, groundings, and other maladies? Without going into too much detail about warship damage theory, I'd like to know how you guys count "kills" and hopefully come up with a standard method.
That can be a challenge, alright. Sometimes it's pretty obvious, of course. I don't know that many clubs try to assign credit for sinks, but it would be a cool thing to do if it were consistently applied. Sort of like goals & assists in hockey, full or partial sacks in football, etc. Other than having some impartial person review video, probably the best way to do it would be to have the other team assign credit for each sink proportionally to those they think are deserving, after a little discussion. Either that, or let each victim assign the credit. JM
or apply a crunchy "paintball" shell to each of your ballbearings so when they hit they will leave a mark in your color. (Just kidding btw)
