    AS REQUESTED BY JOHN:

My wiki idea is not completely crystal even to me... however here it goes.

I want to reuse the forum's ID & passwords. So once your register/login, you are registered/logged in.

So there is something on the page you do not like. No problem.
    You click edit.
If you have more than X number of posts:
A page appears with a text box containing all the text on that page.
You change what you do not like.
    Press Save.
The change will not be immediate, instead the text that you changed from the original will now appear as a "highlighted" hyperlink.
Clicking on the link will show the proposed change.
OTHER users with X number of posts, will vote on the change.
After X number of votes, the change will be either accepted or discarded.

    What do you think?

That sounds like a reasonable start. I don't know how to figure out how many votes is enough for 'X', but I suppose that might be some percentage of the total members, etc.?

You might also consider a process for re-opening a topic that's already been posted, voted, etc.

You mean, text edit #1 isn't good enough; so author #1 decides he wants to edit it & get it reevalutated?

Yeah, I'm sure something like that would have to go inplace... Just even less sure about how that should work yet.
