Haven't played it but have been following the games and stuff through youtube. Got to say it is amazing. Finished watching the Montana on it. Amazing.
If three of us were on at the same time.... I quit playing 2 weeks ago. The live action game we play is more fun.
Some of the ships in game are so fun. I'm up to tier 7 or 8 in all currently available lines, but I kept my tier 3 US Cruiser (St. Louis) just because it's so fun. In fact, it's so cool, it's convinced me to build it for IRC next year! My first EVER allied boat!
kawachi looks like it would be fun to build as well... having alot of fun with drifting the destroyers around mountains.
I'm on WoT and WoW Demona363 Though Closed Beta just ended, and Open beta starts this weekend (now maybe? I'm at work so I don't know for sure). Usually on one or the other for a little bit in the evenings 1700-1900 Pacific most days.
I stopped playing because I don't have time anymore. It's been sucked up by the highly detailed Age of Sail sim called Naval Action. It's in closed alpha right now, they just released the Open World. What an experience! If you've ever played EVE online, it's kinda like that. Except in the Carribean in the 1800's, with a very realistic combat engine. We're in early alpha, so only the combat mechanics are in for now. Trading/exploring/crafting/guilds/player-controlled-ports are coming soon. Even in early alpha, the experience is incredibly immersive. I can spend hours sailing from Puerto Rico to Jamaica. I got lost several times while sailing through the Bahamas... and that's a GOOD thing. Navigation is a real skill in this game; there's no map function that says "you here HERE". While there are lots of computer-controlled ships patrolling the ocean, there are now several hundred players online too, most looking for PVP action. The PVP is intense, too... if you lose your ship, it's gone for good. In addition to five major nations, there is a scattering of Pirate players. Unlike national players, the Pirates can attack anyone at any time. They have to team up to take on larger opponents, and often turn on each other to claim the prize as soon as it has been subdued. Right now there are two PVP wars raging across the world. The Swedish have a bunch of gankers and newbie-hunters, so every nation declared war on them. It's taking it's toll, too: the gankers who used to sail 4th-rate heavy frigates can now only afford 6th-rates. Most recently, the British and Americans kicked off the War of 1812, at the developers' request to test the economic effects of large-scale PVP warfare. Combat is intense and very realistic. Although the ships do have health bars, the game tracks individual holes, flooding, and component damage. Just like in model warship combat, holes below the waterline cause flooding, and if your pumps cannot keep up, then the ship will flood and sink. I can trim my sails to control my heel, boost my turning, or even back up. I've had cannons knocked out of action, masts shot away, crew shredded by grape-shot just before a boarding action. I've shot in one side of a privateer schooner and right out the other side, and watched in disbelief as my twelve-pounders bounced off the hull of a 74-gun Ship of the Line. And I've felt the terror of seeing the first wisps of heavy wood smoke rising from the gun deck and hearing the ship's bell clamoring a general alarm... Remember, if you lose your ship it's gone for good... The alpha is closed right now, but a lot of people have been asking to join. Hopefully the developers will open it up for new players soon. I will definitely post an announcement as soon as they do. This game rocks!
Been watching the development of Naval Action for some time waiting for a time to somehow get involved. The combat videos are incredible.
I need a little break after Nats, so I'm not too worried, besides, my laptop is like a crematorium when I play games.
Been having a grand time in WoW. Working the IJN ship tree. The Kawachi is turning out to be one of my favorites even after getting a Myogi.
I liked to use the kawachi as a ram before the open beta. it did get alot better after they updated the armor tables. but last hull myogi is a kongo with one less gun.
Thought I'd owed Wargaming for all the free play time over the years so bought the Warspite when it was on sale. Starting to get lethal with it. Also having fun with the Phoenix CL.
I wish Myogi was a real ship. Would be deadly in fast gun, could do the full 20 degree down angle on the front turret and the taller turret in the back.
The Myogi was a design study based off of British battlecruiser thinking of the day. Probably would have had one rudder and with that long thin hull, would have started turning a day and half after the helmsman spun the wheel.
