now that guns are in I have a decent idea where the rest of the insides will go from a weight distribution standpoint. Continuing to chip away, have some finish epoxying to do on deck, need bottle mount then probably hoses, battery mount (already printed), rudders. Planning 4s 15Ah batteries (same as Agincourt). Radio box will be my standard interchangeable with Agincourt, Missouri, and Seydlitz

Got some paint down. Focusing on getting the other boats ready, then will put more direct effort into this one

went into a fight against Tyler's triple-sidemount Derf this last weekend.... these triple sidemount battlecruisers are going to be AMAZING. he made a pass on me with his heavy side and peeled me open like a beer can. then, as I limped back in, Texas started keeling over and sprayed everybody in the pit with bilge water.
it was totally unintentional, but wow was it funny. can't wait to see video if this sucker in action.

props/rudders. The class 4 rudders are small for a boat this long. in hindsight should have gotten pivot point closer to props

Tested internal Layout. About 21 lbs, looks like forward/aft balance will be good

Next step is wiring and hoses. With no test switches and just one pump the wiring will be pretty simple. Maybe seaworthy by end of next weekend

(sigh) I remember once upon a time when I was young and productive.

Maybe I'll get some boat work done this coming weekend...

Wiring done. Plugged into box, guessed right first try on servo leads out of the box. lack of pump switches and test switches made it much simpler than most of mine
Everything tested out which was good, auto switch worked

Next step is testing guns, gluing in some internal mounts, then sheet and sea trials. Also need to get the turrets flush and those magnets in

Looking great, as always. Those Kongos are going to be killers I think. Not quite sure where I've ever seen a boat like that before, it seems really familiar to me but can't quite place it...

Not exactly sure what you're referring to Will, but the internal layout is same as Agincourt (which is basically the same as Seydlitz). Now I have 4 boats that use a common control box, and two boxes, which makes swapping between primary boats easy
Here a shot of the wiring. Looks like small spaghetti but really not too bad
    6FC6C01C-71B7-41AC-9ABB-10120E5512DB.jpeg
Aft wiring, ESC in the waterchannel for cooling, also auto switch and level (cylinder with cork)

Battery mounts. One of them slid while drying, but should be fine

13 sheets of balsa prepped for this boat, Missouri, and 1 mid-nats resheet if necessary

Sheeted. wasn't too bad. I was a bit too light on some of the super 77 so had some silkspan to balsa adhesion issues, which didn't show up until contact cement was applied, but think it'll be alright.

Down to the last few odds and ends, hopefully wrap most up tomorrow, sea trials probably in the evening this week

I tried out the 4.5" rudders and she still didn't turn, so I decided to shift to 1.5" props. Previously I guessed throttle at around 25% to get on speed with the 1.75" props, so the 1.5's should be fine. It's a very sleek hull form

Also decided to extend the shafts a bit. I overestimated the rudder size when I put the rudder posts in, so they were too far away from the end of the shaft.

I popped the old bushings out and made up an extension piece
    Showing with the 1.5" Korts
    BE246395-5D27-48C5-897D-987DF6CB0F2B.jpeg
Extension piece. Stuffing tubes were sized for the 3/16" shaft, so had to sleeve two tubes to fit the bushing for 1/8" shaft. Also had to go to 48 pitch gears to fit the 1/8" shaft. I used the washer so the bushing flange would be in contact with the main stuffing tube. I think it came out well, but only time on the water will tell if it holds up

With new rudders, pivot point closer to the prop, I have found this to be important since when the boat is turning the face of the rudder will be closer to the prop. You lose a little of coverage on the outboard prop in a turn. Looking forward to testing it out
    4423A526-7592-4190-A6EA-6DAA8719BCCB.jpeg
Also added some skegs to help with rolls in the turn
    72E34C60-ED4E-468C-93E3-A31E90359F52.jpeg
Hopefully test her again today or tomorrow, hopefully battle in PA

Looks like we had similar issues. Last week I pushed my 1.5" props 1/4" closer to the rudder using some extensions.

    Lead skegs?
