Hello! My name is Cole, and greet you from the Columbus, Ohio area.

I discovered RCWarships was a thing a couple of years ago. However, I didn’t start really looking into it until last week when a friend said he was helping a friend at Nationals. Got me interested as I’ve always had a soft spot for ships and that interest has only grown over the past several days!

I hope to learn a lot here and get myself into the hobby, make some more friends, and share in the fun!

Quick background on my experience; it’s very limited. I’m an Engineer (Mech) and consider myself pretty handy and capable but I’ve never done much RC stuff before so I expect to be doing a lot of learning and researching over the next several months.

I hear that SW of me in Xenia is a group of Big Gun guys, but I’ve been told Fast Gun is where its at so I would like to go that direction. With any luck I may get a couple of friends of mine involved to have some events with.

I’ve received a ton of great info from Will thus far thanks to our mutual friend and have really appreciated it.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and hope to be active here as I gain some knowledge and get into the hobby! Thanks

Excellent! And welcome to the hobby/ Will is an excellent source of info and is working with a lot of newer tech. We just completed this year's Nats and it was great! The large volume of active battlers and suppliers are for the Fast Gun variety o the hobby under the auspices of the IR/CWCC. Get a look around the warship builds and ask question. there is a lot of help here. let us know when you get to considering your first ship.

Thank you Nate! I definitely will.

After talking with Will I am looking into an Iron Duke and potentially a Des Moines as a backup/ship for the gf to get us started. Just gotta finish up a few other projects first haha.

Hey pba thanks for the clarity. About how many battlers would you say there are in the immediate area from your experience?

@Brosiedon one good thing about building to IRCWCC rules is that Treaty rules are only ever more performance - restrictive than ours. Meaning, if you build a boat to IRCWCC you can throttle things back to comply with Treaty. An IRCWCC boat will have more penetrable area, will drive faster, pump harder, and shoot faster. So you can throttle the motors back, time your shots slower (or swap in a Rate-of-fire limited gun board), and drop in a weaker pump and you'd be about 95% legal in Treaty. All while remaining compatible to IRCWCC rules for the larger/farther events. The only downside is you will have more penetrable area vs the other treaty boats if you wish to remain compliant with IRCWCC building rules.

Since we only count sinks not holes in treaty the only penetrable area that matters is below the water line. And it is the same for both formats. Scale rudder
is very important in treaty. The carnage is much less in treaty . Some captians have gone 3 or 4 years without resheeting. We want to have fun rather than
    " Blood and Guts" Competition.

rcengr, thank you for the invite! I’d love to come out and actual see this hobby up close and personal. I should be available at least until it gets too hot haha. I’ll read through the directions and will let you know if I need any more info.
