So I might be building a ship but I need to research first. The questions I have are, What materials can ship hulls be made out of and if there are any requirements to build one?

The first step is to find your nearest club, so you know which rule set you'll be building to. There are several different scales and formats, each with their own ways of doing things. The club finder isn't the most up-to-date, but it's a good place to start. Once you know which club you'll be joining, you can read through their rule set to get a better idea about the specifics. Stuff like what time periods/ships are allowed, armaments, construction rules, pumps, etc. Then you cruise through the Warship Builds area of the forum and see what other people are doing. That'll help you understand what the construction rules are talking about, as well as give you an idea how to build your own ship. Good luck and welcome to the hobby.

you will need to acquire a hull inspector (felis domesticus is commonly held to be the best selection)

Ralph can take 1 1/2 " wood and render it to dust, and does it every night.
And has been doing it for as long as I have been in the hobby!! Jingle Bell.JPG

on a more serious note, assuming you'll be hooking up with the folk in GLAS, you'll want to read through and understand the IRCWCC construction rules.

Not to be a nudge, but shouldn't this thread be in the 'General' forum?
